Dr. Anas Al-Shaikh-Ali, one of our institute’s professors, has achieved a significant milestone with his work titled "Bias in Popular Culture: The Power of Visual and Linguistic Narratives". Dr. Al-Shaikh-Ali was honored with the Beyond Education Work Award by the NUN Foundation for Education and Culture.
The award was presented during the Foundation's Beyond Education Summit 2025, held in Istanbul on November 1-2, 2025. As Dr. Al-Shaikh-Ali could not be present, the award was graciously accepted on his behalf by Dr. Hatice Nuriler, a visiting researcher at our institute.
In connection with his award-winning research, Dr. Anas Al-Shaikh-Ali teaches the course "Epistemological Bias in Popular Culture" at our institute. This course delves into the core themes of his book, examining how visual narratives and everyday language shape perceptions and perpetuate ideologies.
Lauded as a "pioneering and exceptionally guiding work for current and future generations" , the book critiques historical stereotypes and advocates for more equitable and diverse voices in cultural representations. For its authentic contribution to the decolonization of knowledge, the work stands as a landmark in its field.
