Organized in collaboration with the Alliance of Civilizations Institute, Mahya Publishing, and İnkılâb Printing and Publishing, the program examined the intellectual legacy of Ismail Raci al-Faruqi, one of the leading figures in contemporary Islamic thought.

The Institute of the Alliance of Civilizations hosted a commemorative program entitled ‘Ismail Raci al-Faruqi: On the 40th Anniversary of His Martyrdom’ at the Süleymaniye Salis Madrasa on Saturday, 6 June 2026. Organized as part of the “Lecture Series on Contemporary Islamic Thought”, the event was carried out in collaboration with MEDIT, Mahya Publishing, and İnkılâb Printing and Publishing.

The event, which saw a high turnout, featured discussions on the life, intellectual legacy and academic contributions of the Palestinian thinker and academic Ismail Raci al-Faruqi. Attended by approximately 100 people, the event provided an opportunity to reassess al-Faruqi's place in contemporary Islamic thought.

Chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vahdettin Işık, Director of the Institute of the Alliance of Civilizations, the program featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Bilal Kuşpınar, Dr. Sümeyye Güven, and Prof. Dr. Serdar Demirel. During the session, al-Faruqi's intellectual legacy—spanning the fields of civilisation, knowledge and education—was examined from various perspectives.

Following the presentations, the program was enriched by the participants’ questions, views, and assessments. It was emphasized that al-Faruqi's intellectual legacy is not merely a matter of historical remembrance, but continues to offer significant opportunities in terms of contemporary Islamic thought, civilization studies, and discussions on knowledge production.

As the Institute of the Alliance of Civilizations, we would like to thank all our guests who contributed to the program through their interest and participation, particularly Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vahdettin Işık, Prof. Dr. Bilal Kuşpınar, Dr. Sümeyye Güven, and Prof. Dr. Serdar Demirel for their valuable contributions.
