Following our vision, ACI’s mission is to establish Civilization Studies as an alternative discipline in its own right, with its particular level of analysis and distinct ontological, epistemological and methodological approach. Civilization Studies will offer multidimensional and alternative approaches for conceiving regional and global issues, where conventional disciplinary approaches prove insufficient. By building on and critically engaging with the shared common heritage of humanity and by ensuring the diversity of our students and academic staff, the Institute aims to realize the full potential of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches that speak to one another under Civilization Studies.
