We are pleased to invite you to the next session of our MEDIT Talks Series, where we will host Prof. Dr. İbrahim Halil Üçer, faculty member in the Department of Philosophy at Istanbul Medeniyet University and the editor of Atlas of Islamic Thought.
In this talk, Prof. Üçer will explore what it means to speak of an “intellectual tradition.” Moving beyond approaches that reduce traditions to texts, authors, or institutions, he will reflect on how traditions are shaped by the questions they sustain and the principles through which they are answered.
The talk will also consider under what conditions a line of thought comes to be regarded as a tradition and how continuity is sustained beneath changing concepts and debates. It ultimately invites us to reflect not only on the past, but also on the frameworks within which we think today.
